At 12 o'Clock sailed from New York with a small Breeze at N. W. At one past by the Man of War at the Watering Place, who Saluted us as did the Fort George, and Artillery at the General's Embarking,* at two P. M. our Pilot and several Gentlemen of N. Y. left us without Sandy Hook with a small Air of Wind at N. W. set Royalls, Steering Sails on all sides &c. at 8. P. M. the Neversink bore N. W. 7 or 8 leagues distance. Wind E. very light air of Wind and flattering, all sail set. Wind E. S. E. At 4 A. M. in steering sails, flattering from the East. Set Stay sails fore and aft, flattering cloudy weather and small sea, at Meridian Tackt to the East, thick weather. Distance 69. No observation. Lat. 39.33. Long. in 72.55.

* New York, Thursday, June 10. On Tuesday about eleven o'clock, his Excellency the Hon. General Gage, with his Lady, their son and two daughters, Miss Morris, Major Sheriffe, and the Captains Kemble and Dobson, embarked on board the Ship Earl of Dunmore, Capt. Lawrence, for London. The Royal Artillery were under arms, and saluted his Excellency with 17 guns, a great company of Gentlemen attended his Excellency to the ship, expressing in very fervent terms, their wishes of safety and felicity to this most valuable and sincerely beloved personage, his truly amiable Lady and Family. — Rivington's N. Y. Gazettcer, June 10, 1773, No. 8.

The General was attended by the principal officers of the Army, to the Waterside, at Murray's Wharf near the Coffee House, where a Company of the Royal Artillery, under Arms waited his coming. As soon as the Ship got under sail, he was saluted by 19 Discharges of 2 Field Pieces, belonging to the Artillery; and as he passed the Battery by the like Number from thence. The N. Y.
